LinkedIn is one of the top social platforms out there, and trust us, it’s not going anywhere. It’s a valuable tool that has many benefits for both companies and professionals- from attracting job leads to developing your company’s profile, it’s a symbiotic relationship that works for each side.
Now, every company should have a dedicated Linkedin profile that people can follow for updates on their developments. If you don’t have one for your company, we recommend creating one now. Making a Business page is free, and it’s a simple 5-minute process that will pay off greatly. Follow the step-by-step process for setting up your company’s page.
Log into your personal account. If you don’t have a personal profile, we recommend you sign up for Linkedin ASAP. Once you’ve opened your homepage, click the Work icon on the top right corner, which opens a dropdown menu, like below.
Click on Create a Company Page. It’s at the bottom of the menu so make sure you scroll down to the bottom to find it.
You’ll see the following page, where you can pick the size of your company. Startups to small businesses can pick the first option, while larger firms can pick the Medium to Large Business option. If you’re looking at making a page within an existing Business page, then select Showcase Page. If you’re starting one from scratch, avoid this option.
You’ll be guided to the following page where you will need to fill out your company’s details. This is not a place to embellish, as it’s a professional representation of your business. So whatever you fill in here, make sure it’s something that reflects your company appropriately.
You’re done! Now it’s time to develop your content strategy and start posting! Here are some tips we recommend for your Linkedin Business page:
- Invite your employees to follow the page and list the company as their employer. This helps position it as a legitimate business, rather than a random inactive page. You can also appoint admins to the page who will be responsible for posting and maintaining your profile
- Create and post content that speaks to your followers and industry peers. Linkedin is a good place to show employee appreciation, work culture, and updates on your company’s progress. Linkedin is the perfect place to promote your business. Don’t be afraid to brag a tiny bit, just remember to keep it classy!
- Ensure that you’re regularly updating your page with relevant content to help it grow. On our own page, we like to mix it up by displaying work samples, spotlighting hardworking employees, and sharing updates about new clients that we’ve recently signed on. Your strategy could be a version of ours, or something completely different. A little trial and error will go a long way in helping solidify your content strategy
